Biography: Shyam, who writes/illustrates/designs under the pseudonym GREYSTROKE, is one of the founder director's of Wheitstone Productions, a content house committed to bringing out quality reading material for children. He was the art-director of Chatterbox - The Magazine for Smart Kids and Wiznews - India's Newspaper for Children. Besides running the magazine and the newspaper for about 5 years, he also wrote, illustrated and designed for both publications. His short stories for children have been published in leading newspapers and magazines. He has a degree in management and is a qualified animator (2d/3d animation design, sfx and non-linear editing). He ran his own creative consulting agency, producing ads, corporate brochures, posters, greeting cards and other communication material, before starting Chatterbox. He is a self-taught artist with a preference for humorous/cartoon style illustration. He was the cartoonist for the indian Review of Books and has illustrated for children's publishers like Tara, Tulika, Karadi Tales, Macmillan, Pratham etc. His illustrative work has represented india at the World School Art Exhibition (’85) in South Korea and has won several state level awards. He recently (2004-2005) served as the art-director for two Singapore-based children's magazines - Quest and Junior Quest. He is also involved in filmmaking and has directed 2 documentary films and a few short films. He presently undertakes creative work on a freelance basis.
