In the last year I have returned to creating art on a regular basis. My initial work is in oil pastels. Initially portraits and figurative work of my wife. My most recent work is a series of eight pictures on the theme of lovers. I use drawings, photographs and digital manipulation to create the compositions. My aim is to create a scene that is poignant and suggests moments in a relationship. From a tender embrace, to the bliss of passion, but also those moments of doubt and reflection. Small intimate scenes that leave the viewer to speculate as to the unspoken dialogue between the couple. This series was done between June and October 2006. I've just made the move into painting in acrylics. My current theme is Flesh & Fabric.
Biography: Born 1956, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Near Wigan, Lancs. Studied sculpture at Norwich School of Art and St. Martin’s, London 1980 -84. Worked as a furniture restorer and furniture maker for 3 years in London, before studying to become an Art Teacher in Leicester. I have taught Art and ICT at an Ipswich high school since 1989. I have exhibited in group exhibitions as a sculptor and had work included in Art Teacher exhibitions within Suffolk. I draw, paint, sculpt, design and make furniture, and create work using digital media. If I think of something to create, I create it.
