The historical research and its use in modern practice promises to continue unabated. Hernando Rico-Sanchez produces a realistic voice for the people of Colombia in visual connotation. Each piece reproduces feelings of unballance and conflict in our common lives. The familiar motif plays admidst us, not to shock or provoke but seeps the naked truth from inside. His accent is on emotional style, a rooted mixture between theory of colors and brings the senses. of the present closer to the public. The encompassing reflections of political and social introspect are brought about in both forms through the use of the human body without an identity. This signification reveals a karma of irresponsiblity and similtaniosly how the nature of hurt and erotisism can be a healing abstraction for life. Derived from a negative space-set, the hard colors of the artists work never quite exstinguish his soft entangled shapes which hold a glory of language and sensibilities to the spirit. Historical expressions of violence created a quasi-mimetic attitude in this society. The living idea here becomes free. One question comes strongly to mind, Why is the world like this if so many claim understanding? The boundary of control is really embrased with a claim to control and only our deepest sense keeps such secrects under thumb. Here the artist is mystical in his approach to painting, taken blame, respect, and all the strewn peices of social mind to shape opening the hand of knowledge. A blood soaked thread connecting society into something useful to tollerate daily rifts of not only adaption to eachother but unjustified cellular intollerances. The mixture of varied mediums enables the artist to fully express these complex emotions shared by so many. Oil, plaster, charcoal, metal, and paper serve to provide texture, depth and strength to his work adding some tyranical dimension to both his painting and sculptural peices. Noted for Sanchez`s serious statement of compassion, the light touched context here is quite anti-symetrical to a darker forboding where one is never static but always moving. To delve into this part of our society on a whole segments the perspective of violence otherwise kept encased. In the series of oil paintings a diologue is continued like a dance to other partners in origonal song. The vision flows from your ears to your eyes, from your mind to the lips of a listening partner. "The violence dosn't finish at the end of war. The consequences will follow the heritage of those violent actions, in our social behavior and way of thinking."
