Biography: Hilary Wallis was born in Virginia, spent her formative years in Atlanta, Georgia and had her first exhibition in a gallery by the age of seventeen after relocating to Sarasota, Florida. She won a scholarship to the Ringling School of Arts and Design, and yet quietly refused because the internal struggle of deciding between different career paths was beginning to take hold. Her mind wanted a life dealing with international affairs, but her heart would always belong to her painting. Hilary followed what her mind set out to accomplish and went to school for a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications from the University of Florida. However, she kept her paintbrush in hand while also working as an illustrator for a local magazine and created artwork for various causes. The television travel industry brought her to London, England, and soon she was immersing herself in the arts of cultural Europe. She traveled extensively to obtain some inspiration before returning to the US. Her heart finally won the battle that had been raging inside of her for many years. Two days after receiving her degree, she returned to London. Through well connected contacts, she was painting private commissions for individuals. Her taste for adventure has been satisfied throughout her life by taking journeys in foreign countries alone. Taking trips through parts of the world enables Hilary to gain inspiration and knowledge for her painting. Her journalistic background allows her to question the historic and political issues in her visits throughout different countries. As an artist, Hilary makes these cultural aspects appear visually and enhances the beauty behind this unique form of media. Now working extensively in between different cities in Europe and America, Hilary has committed herself in exploring art as a form of social and emotional development through visual messages. She believes in the wonderful potential communities possess once given hope and encouragement..
