Beamsville Artist Mary Ann Huisman has been painting most of her life and her favourite medium is watercolour.
Her subjects range from nature to florals and landscapes, but her favourite theme is water.
She loves to paint the dynamic movement of lakes, streams, rivers or oceans to capture the essence of Mother Nature’s challenge.
Her inspiration comes from the diverse landscape, gardens and people of the Niagara Region as well as her many travels abroad.
Huisman completed her studies in Art and Graphic Design Production at Niagara College, and has also attended The Dundas Valley School of Art. Her work has sold throughout the Niagara Region and she is a member of the Lakeside Pumphouse Artists Association. She is always happiest with a paintbrush in her hand and an idea in her heart.
Her studio is aptly named ‘Meme’--- a Latin word meaning ‘idea’.
Biography: Mary Ann Huisman is from Beamsville, Ontario and has been
painting most of her life. Though she enjoys working in oil and
acrylic her favourite medium is watercolour.
She completed her diploma in Art and Graphic Design
Production at Niagara College and has studied at the Dundas
Valley School of Art and the St Catharines Academy of Fine
Artists.
1n 2006 she joined the traveling outdoor artists’ exhibition (NWRPA) which is hosted by recognized Niagara wineries. Her artwork has also sold at The Grimsby Festival of Art as well as The Willowbank Art Show.
As a member of the Lakeside Pumphouse Artists Association her
work has sold at their annual art exhibition and her pieces are
currently on display at Niagara Art Gallery.
Most of her inspiration comes from the many dimensions and
flavours of the Niagara region. Its unique and diverse
people, seasons and landscapes contribute greatly to her
diverse paintings. She is always happiest with a paintbrush in
her hand and an idea in her heart. Her work is also available for purchase at the Pelham Art Festival each Mother's Day Weekend.
