I want to leave a legacy of somone who inspires, encourages and helps others to fulfil their full potential so that they feel they matter to people and most of all to God.
In this world there are many stressors and pressures. With so many technology solutions it is hard to get back to the basic fabric of who we are as people. I don’t believe God intended us to live in a rat race and I believe taking time to develop our creative side helps us get closer to who we are and help define our identity in God.
I believe that the part-taking of creative activities benefit the holistic well-being of the individual. I have personally benefited from working in the creative environment of art and would really love to help people express themselves and create better self-esteem.
Art can be used to build confidence and give individuals a sense of worth. As art involves experimenting with many different materials and styles of work it can give a new perspective and dimension to an individual's thinking. It can also be beneficial in unlocking hidden or difficult feelings that are too deep to even acknowledge through words.
Other creative tools have the potential to be of benefit including poetry, music, and writing (journaling). As we become happier people in our personal lives, it carries across to our professional lives which in turn benefit employers.
Art may be seen as more of a hobby to a lot of people but it has the potential to impact positively on many aspects of life.
Even the health profession now recognizes that this kind of activity can be beneficial in terms of health.
It is AMAZING to see people grow in confidence and feel they have something to contribute. Everyone has the potential to be creative in the right sort of environment.
Biography: After completing a Diploma in Foundation Studies (Art & Design) in 2006, I decided to take some time out due to ill health.
I found the Diploma course really enjoyable as it allowed me to experiment with different media, different techniques and to express my creativity and passion.
It was the perfect opportunity to develop a more individual and confident approach to the specialist areas that I am interested in.
My main interest is Fine Art, particularly painting in oils, although I do prefer to create a more 2-D construction with a tactile end result. I have always enjoyed this area and I feel I can express my ideas by fully utilising the main materials/media. I like to incorporate unusual media in my work and find that it creates a very individual approach. I used unusual media throughout the Foundation Course and enjoy developing creative construction work.
I have always been interested in Fine Art and the course allowed me to see the process and development of all that is involved within Fine Art. I am very committed and passionate about furthering my skills and stretching myself in order to personally develop the style and composition of my work.
In my spare time I also enjoy creative writing, poetry, music, reading, going out and socialising with friends and family.
Previously, in 1996 I completed an honours degree in computing so I understand the commitment and dedication needed for this level of work. I have also worked previously in the computer industry where I have developed many skills including personal development skills. I feel this has given me confidence and interpersonal skills to work effectively as well as the ability to work productively on my own.
I welcome any opportunity to further develop in the area of Fine and Applied Art where I have developed a passion. I welcome the opportunity to build on the skills I already possess.
