People are generally unaware of what they possess or truly want until they are forced to see their lives clearly. This usually comes from weathering a tragedy or milestone. It is the stress involved that makes way for comprehension.
The characters in my paintings are hovering in that state of clarity as they stare in wide-eyed wonder. They are alert and receptive. I have come to profoundly appreciate this feeling in my life, and to enjoy the giddiness that accompanies it.
