“When you know what the rules are, than you can break them”
Biography: Juraj Tomcik (b. 1982) living in London and working as a furniture designer, isn’t beginning artist on creative scene. He comes from Slovakia, where he took art education in all levels. He graduated with master’s degree in Industrial Design of Furniture by diploma work “Slovak National Sitting”, which was classified within the best in academic year 2007.
Themes for his art works come from different moods and manners what people live. Everything depends on current situation and moments, which are changing all the time and that’s why this kind of inspiration is inexhaustible. His paintings are literally clear reification of tenths of daily experiences. They always have just working titles, because everybody could see something different on them. Colors and objects are straight and bright even highlighted with black contours. All of them are created to be in “accent position” in interiors. Accent is also a final stage of painting, when is requisite.
Velocity of time we living is full of changes, which we need to conform. Images are created under the thumb of strong consumer society, but without any effects to us.
Affected by Andy Warhol and his production rose on last for possession and inclination of spending power supplemented with idea of copying and making art without any useless speculation by form of experiment. “When you know what the rules are, than you can break them” Accentualism will be the art movement, where is this going.
