On me, my work, and my philosophy of Life ... Over the course of this lifetime, I have engaged in many kinds of work, but I have mostly been a gypsy - traveling from one exploration to another in search of my own song of mystery, adventure, and knowledge. Gypsy Song ArtWorks is the result of a lifetime spent discovering how to reconnect to the Divine within us all. It is my gift to the universe ... to you; it is my prayer of gratitude for the opportunity to find abundance through creativity. Gypsy Song is also my attempt to live by "seeing the glass as half-full instead of half-empty" - or in the much more eloquent words of an elder of the San Juan Pueblo: "What I am trying to say is hard to tell and hard to understand ... unless, unless ... you have been yourself at the edge of the Deep Canyon and have come back unharmed. Maybe it all depends on something within yourself - whether you are trying to see the Water snake or the sacred Cornflower, whether you go out to meet death or to Seek Life." My paintings are joy ... freedom ... hope ... love ... and a myriad of emotions that words are powerless to express. When you share your life with my pictures, you will feel yourself transformed. Their positive energy embraces and soothes; it encourages you to join in the universal dance of life. Abandon fear! Seek life! Be joy-filled in all you do - and you, in turn, will transform the universe.
Biography: Karen Grabowski grew up in a family where creativity was encouraged, and where curiosity was the motivation to try new ideas. Arts and crafts of all sorts were a regular part of activities, and she and her siblings enjoyed the freedom to explore and experiment with many ideas and materials. Ms. Grabowski had her first artwork displayed when she was 11. For many years after that, she focused on writing as a form of expression, but complex geometric doodles could be found on almost every page of her school notes and other materials. She attended the University of Nevada-Reno, where she explored art and art history along with myriad other interests. She later graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts. After the death of her father-in-law, and then her father and her dog in close succession, Ms. Grabowski found that she needed and wanted a way to express what their lives - and all life - meant. Words were simply not enough. Reconnecting with the freedom of expression she learned as a child, she now works to create paintings that celebrate life. Bright colors and intricate detail are essential elements, with designs that range from mandala-like symmetry to more abstract visuals ... but all paintings share in common a sense of joy, freedom, and healing. Ms. Grabowski continues to develop her personal style and skill through experimentation, personal exploration, and insights she has gained as a student of life and a Reiki I and II practitioner. She believes that the creative spirit lives within us all ~ all it requires is a bit of faith, a bit of determination, and the ability to give ego a place on the sidelines for long enough for the wonder of the Universe to fill us with its endless sense of perfection.
