As a child, I thought I would grow up to be an artist. My childhood and youth revolved around that idea, but following graduation from high school, real life set in. Short of taking a few elective courses during a delayed college education, I did not pick up a pencil or paintbrush for almost 25 years. Following my business career, I found the desire and time to try again, and with the motivation found in a few classes at the Toledo Museum and the support of family and friends, I began working in colored pencil. Recently the urge for more liberation has prompted me to focus on acrylic painting and mixed media. Who knows what the next 25 years will bring? Here's a look at some of those original pencil works, plus I have just added two very recent (completed 2/06) works - a collage and my first "official" acrylic painting. Biography: Growing up and living in Northwest Ohio, I am a hometown graduate of the University of Toledo. Following a career in human resouces, I focused renewed attention on a childhood love of drawing. A variety of classes at the the Toledo Museum of Art preceded this year's attendance at a week long Artista painting seminar in Carmel, CA. My initial efforts were rewarded by acceptance of several colored pencil drawings into regional shows. These entries are noted with the appropriate photo. Two very recent works (completed February 2006)have been added to this site since its inception and some even newer acrylic paintings added in April 06.
