These pieces illustrate a visual parallel between the human mind and computer processes, based on a series of personal experiences. The conscious mind often draws a memory from the subconscious, alters it and presents the initial image or experience as something set apart and different from it’s formal real self. The personal computer, through one’s manipulating a variety of programs and devices, is also capable of similar image modification. Alternately representing the conscious or the sub-conscious, a PC‘s applications and peripheral extensions can redefine a digital image obtained from traditional photographic sources (which are the tangible representations of a previous experience) and through either spontaneous or preconceived visual effects, is also capable of enhancing both the physical and emotional aspects of the imagery. The artist then, has an opportunity to use the processes involved in producing digital photographic images, as both tools for and extensions of one’s own mind, altering and manipulating the imagery to a level where one’s conscious and sub-conscious are able to work interchangeably and freely with technical counterparts.
