Laura Morena is an American artist from the Great Lakes Region (Michigan, USA). This artist’s paintings reflect passionate energy through use of vibrant colors and beautiful texture where brush strokes are thick with paint. Her figurative portraits seem to be psychological profiles of her sitter. Inspired by many great artists (Alice Neel, Munch, Picasso, Kahlo, Kandinsky, Van Gogh, Gauguin, and others), she explores creative expression in a variety of media, with an emphasis in painting. University educated, Laura completed a bachelor's degree in education with a minor emphasis in Psychology. Although her degree did not focus on the field of art, she had the opportunity during anatomy classes to study human cadavers in various states of dissection and art history. Artistically she is considered self-taught. Subjects of her art include models from life, family members, and her surrounding environment.
