Hi, my name is Lawrence Cenotto. I am a Washington-state based artist specializing in oil portraitures and landscapes. I just graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane with a degree in Business and Art. From a young age, I have always loved art and I have always wanted to incorporate it into my life somehow. From tracing animals as a toddler at my grandparents' house, to selling drawings at daycare for $0.10 a piece to finance my Gameboy addiction, to now, art has always been my passion. I am an avid sports fan, and I love to travel, so my favorite things to paint are athletes that I admire as well as landscapes from different places that I have traveled to. I would describe my style as being that of a "pseudo-Realist," as I try to make my paintings look realistic, but not so much so that you can't tell that it's a painting. I am not after painting an exact photographic representation of the subject, but I do obsess over tiny nuances in my works, and I try to capture the essence of what the subject embodies, whether that be a facial expression, pose, or a number of other elements. I work primarily with oil paints because I enjoy the process of creating an oil painting. I find that oil allows me to capture those nuances and subtleties that I like to express in my subjects more so than other mediums. I appreciate the process that goes into an oil painting. I find that it is very much like creating a three-dimensional piece of art, as the layering and planning that go into the creation are far more complex than what meets the eye. I would cite Caravaggio, Stephen Holland, and John Lovett as the artists that most inspire my work, but Van Gogh is my favorite artist. Biography: Born in Lakewood, WA. Then a bunch of stuff happened. Still live there when not in school. I love to paint, and I really want to be successful in the art world, because I never want to have a job that I hate doing and cant stand going to.
