Alexandru is a Romanian young printmaker who is specializing in linoleum printmaking. "I keep a dominant and central place in my heart for this new form of graphic art perhaps ,among other reasons, due to the considerable physical element involved in this technique." "In other forms of graphic art the paper serves merely as a support for pigment making up an image , but in linoleum printmaking the paper becomes an integral part of the image." The message of Alexandru's art is half ciphered, because the same work of art carries in itself a message that is available for wide audience, but also contains information that is intended only for connoisseurs. We can admire for example,the expressive "Tradition 1" where some traditional motives are combined in an "irrational" but monumental composition. General space is sometimes as it was falling into a new dimension, especially in "The black mirror" and sometimes is closing on itself without perspective, which becomes more and more noticeable in works like "Time or Space" or "Sign of pain". The artist handles connections between figurative-abstract, volume and space, in a way that he transforms the three-dimensional reality into a two-dimensional one. The work of Alexandru reveals a praiseworthy artistic maturity achieved in a short period of time.
