Biography: "Melanie Severino whose family hails from silay, bacolod has always enjoyed art and design, whether it is looking at the work of others or creating works of her own. . She was very much influenced by her father who used to paint. She believes that art doesn’t have to have meaning. Art is anything beautiful. As a young child she loved drawing and painting, and won several local competitions in her school. She took up Fine arts at the College of the Holy Spirit, Manila majoring in Advertising. She worked as a fashion designer for several high-end children’s wear, was an in-house designer for a local rtw brand and currently a freelance graphic artist and painter. She and her friends opened a business wherein they supplied hand-painted shirts which she designed and painted herself. Working mainly on textile paints, she decided on using it for her large scale works and watercolour for smaller scales. She is into realism concentrating on portraitures and landscapes because she finds it challenging capturing reality into art."
