Welcome to my website. I hope you will find my paintings appealing. I try to make sure that my art works harmonize and improve the life of their owner, make it bright and cozy.
A still life is one of my favorite genres of painting. I like spectacular, intricate, bright still lives. Trying to accentuate that each item is unique, I spend quite a lot of time searching for the ideal positioning. Symbolism is vital in my creative work: each dish, beaker, glass, fruit, flower, etc. sends us a certain message, and thus each and every still life can and should be interpreted. For instance a bunch of chrysanthemums symbolizes fall, joy and easy living, glitter of a crystal wineglass or vase will protect you from an evil eye, and fruit will make your house prosperous and flourishing.
I could comment on each painting in detail and if you are interested I will be glad to answer any questions that you might have.
Intercourse with animate nature is a source material for my art works. My garden inspires me for quite a number of works that are combined in the series “The Garden of My Soul”. The collection contains fantastic flowers as well as feminine images that serve a symbol of unanimity and inherent connection between nature and human soul.
In addition to that I try to competently use the link between the energy of various colors and the emotional and physical state of a person. I always advise that one should listen to one’s inner voice when selecting the painting, so that the art work can most effectively help to reach maximum comfort and harmony between soul and body.
I addressed Feng Shui about 12 years ago and became very interested in this ancient practice, moreover its images and symbols inspired me for a series of works. These symbols influence all spheres of our everyday life. The target of this practice is to change your life, to add harmony in your relations, to fill your house with success and prosperity, to protect and grant many years of happy life to you and your family.
I will be glad to write in more detail about each painting and its symbolic implication!
My feelings and emotions are essential in my art. Interlacing, they create illusory fantasies and numerous transformations of reality. Through my art works I can express my thoughts about nature and its connection with a man, about creation of the world and the universe, about time and space, about a human being and the way that this human being chooses, about dreams and desires, spiritual and earthly love.
Thank you! If you wish to buy one of my works, please send me a message and I will let you know, whether the painting is still available, and if it is sold, you can always order a copy by me.
And if you have certain ideas about the theme of a painting that you would like to be made for you, please let me know, and we will discuss the possibilities!
Biography: Natalia Melnikova, an artist who lives and works in Ekaterinburg (Russia), was born in 1950 in the family of an architect and an expert in arts and crafts.
At the dawn of her artistic career Natalia received an education in the field of fine arts, she graduated the Schadr College of Fine Arts, attended workshops organized by Popov and devoted every spare minute she had to painting, familiarizing with the heritage of various historical epochs, studying arts and crafts, ornaments, symbolism and coloristics typical of various cultures.
The first works that Natalia decided to show to the audience were woven pieces. Tapestry used to be a true passion of the artist (“Winter-Summer” 1979, “Fall” 1980, “Jarilo” 1982, “Beregynia” 1986). These works of art were displayed during a number of municipal and regional exhibitions, and arts critics complemented these works, for they exposed images through symbolism that was free of constraints of one’s imagination.
In the 80’s and 90’s of the last century Natalia worked in the art studios of the Municipal Fund of Fine Arts in Swerdlowsk (Russia), making monumental murals and designing interior decorations. At that time Natalia was also fond of weaving, ceramics, designing wooden objects for interior decor in Old Slavic style, decorations made of leather, feathers and yarn. Her paintings during those years primarily concentrated on mythological creatures (“The Bird Sirin”, “Mermaids”, “Gryphons”) and nature (“Poplar Fuzz”, “Tulips”, “Happiness in Lilac Hues”).
For years Natalia devoted much time and effort to the orders that she received from private customers. Her art works can now be found in private collections in Russia, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the USA and the United Arab Emirates. She currently aims at presenting her works to the general public in Russia. Her participation in the exhibition “Word and Image” that was organized in the Museum of Fine Arts in Ekaterinburg in 2003 evoked much interest. In 2005 Natalia displayed her works during the regional exhibition “Spring”. In 2007 Natalia participated in the Forum for Business Ladies of the Urals. Her personal exhibition was organized in May 2007 in the business center “Antey” (Ekaterinburg). In September 2007 Natalia’s collection “The Garden of My Soul” was displayed in the Gallery “Master TM” (Saint-Petersburg, Russia). In November 2007 the artist was invited to organize a personal exhibition in the Administration of the Nevsky District. In 2008 Natalia participated in the installation that was organized in cooperation with the Gallery “Nevsky Vernisage”. In March 2008 the audience enjoyed personal exhibitions in Moscow and Ekaterinburg. The artist now plans to display her art works in Moscow, Duesseldorf and Vienna.
The range of Natalia’s art works is extremely diverse: it includes realism (“Sunflowers”, “The Gifts of Summer”), impressionism (“Pear”), surrealism (“Noah’s Ark”), symbolism (“Adam and Eve”), abstract art (“The Rooster”), arts and crafts (“Butterflies”, “Mascot Fish”).
On the one hand her paintings reveal the inner world of a man, emotions, dreams, desires, they appeal to each soul that dreams about idyllic love, happiness, fairy tale, peace and absolute harmony.
On the other hand the artist mentions that she tries to use the intrinsic and concealed connection between a certain hue and emotional and physical state of a person. When one competently uses the energy of various colors and fills one’s life with congenial palette of hues, one is more likely to reach the harmony between one’s soul and body and to be successful in life. Natalia’s paintings truly are a source of harmony, energy and optimism.
