My work is inspired by many different genres and form of art. I am drawn to busy textiles and contemporary graphic design and logo's. I am also very energized by living in the city and by being part of the hip hop culture. Most importantly, my involvement in graffiti over the years has influenced and informed my art and design more than anything else. American freight train graffiti is one of the last true folk arts being practiced today. My participation and respect for this form of expression is one of the biggest driving force behind my work.I work with as many mediums as I can when I paint. I believe that combining different types of paints, enamels, textures and glazes can have a very desirable affect on a painting. The mystery and magic of examining any work of art and trying to decipher the meaning and methods is the biggest thrill for me. I work in series. Often I will have a few waves of different series going on at once. Usually an illustrative series and an entirely abstract series. This helps me cross-pollinate ideas from one discipline to the next. I intentionally work at various sized from very small panels to large mural productions. I have found that changing my pace and materials on a regular basis helps me keep a fresh perspective on my approach and content. The biggest thrill that I get from my participation in the fine art world is getting to know the people that I have always been inspired by, and the people that find my work inspirational. This cycle is crucial in the ever-fluctuating world of fine art.
