My favourite media is oil. My style is very free and impressionist using lines, dabs and patches of brilliant colour to piece together the image on the canvas. The image is worked up from an under painting then sometimes a hint glaze of vibrant oil hues finished with soft buttery textured oil paints, contrasting and complementing side by side. Lines long and thin, short and fat, laid thick and thin, bright and dark, seen together combine to form a bold powerful image. How I love to add the life of colour to my paintings, it gives me a real tangible joy. I only hope that I can convey this sense of love I have of the colours, to you through my paintings. Earth colours can be noticeably absent. The vibrant strong colours patched onto the painting lift my spirit and enrapture my soul forming an escape from daily life, I’m traveling again.
Biography: Peter is an international artist. His work is displayed in collections in the U.S., India and Australia. As an habitual traveller his work is heavily influenced by adventurous trips around the globe to fuel his inspiration and to refresh and diversify his work. Since the 1980's he has built up an extensive collection of photographs, previously sold in his gallery in York together with a series of sculptures. Following an extensive period of contemplation and travels Peter has moved to reproduce his experiences and feelings in the media of Oil painted on canvas. He has studied painting in India and further educated himself in Australia and the USA, later drawing inspiration from the impressionists Renoir and Monet with whom he has a strong connection. Peter finds art an extensive and ever expanding learning experience. His passion for painting is pervasive and all encompassing. Inspiration is drawn from extended stays abroad especially on the West coasts of both California and Australia, Alpine and Mediterranean France & India.
