Alexandru is a contemporary printmaker artist, who is specializing in linoleum cuttings. "In my linoleum artworks i experience living in a world in which past,present tradition and modernism are interwoven in a new concept of art." In other forms of graphic art the paper serves merely as a support for pigment making up an image, but in linoleum cuttings the paper becomes an integral part of the image. The artistic message is half ciphered, because the artist uses symbols, nonfigurative motives and elements of abstraction for his subjects. Expressive for example is "irrational" but monumental interpretation of architectonic motives as you can see in "Traditions". General space is sometimes as it was falling into a new dimension, especially in " Mirror" and sometimes is closing on itself without perspective which becomes more and more noticeable in "Sign". The artist handles connections between mass and surface, volume and space, in order to change the three-dimensional reality into a two-dimensional one.
