Welcome to the website of Richard J. Boote, professional artist and technical illustrator. An exhibition of Richards' work was recently on show at The Ancient High House, Stafford, from 03rd to 31st December 2008. It is the first exhibition that has seen him sell original works as opposed to limited prints. The Quantum Enigma was the name of one of Richards' most recent pieces, and was also the title of the exhibition itself; several new works were on show. All of his most recent work involves recurring themes which suggest love, loss and happiness denied. They are highly detailed and powerful in their visual impact. Using a vast library of imagery, Richard has developed a symbolic artistic language of his own. All of his pictures are accompanied by an explanatory text to assist the viewer to access the meaning behind the imagery. Originals and limited prints are available for purchase, and buying direct from the artist will save having to pay gallery prices. You could own a fantastic piece of artwork for less than you imagine. Use the 'Contact Me' page to request further information.
Biography: I was trained as an architectural draughtsman and technical illustrator, and have worked extensively within the architectural profession since 1972. During last few years I have taught art in a special school environment, but left employment last summer to pursue a career as an artist and musician. I have undertaken many commissions, private and commercial.
Recent years have seen the demise of the true draughtsperson as computer aided drawing has become the norm. Whilst being experienced in AutoCAD, I missed the art of producing drawings with technical pen and pencil. I gradually found my artwork, which had previously always been observational in nature, was becoming more abstract and symbolic when I used traditional architectural draughting media. It has subsequently evolved into an amalgam of technical graphics together with my own imagery, thus developing a language of its own. I often feel inspired to include a short literary statement with each new piece of work, to help the viewer to access the picture.
