My art was strongly influenced since beginning by surrealism and dadaism. Later I got to know abstract expressionism, pop-art and conceptual art, that gave me strong influence too.
In my artworks I care the most about emotions, through the use of vivid colors, and feeling for a good composition. These are the two key aspects of my works.
I like to deal with subjects as: ecology-nature (I'm an ecologist - as every human being should consider themselves!), women-beauty, dreams, society, art history (I like to quote or homage great masters of the Arts). But most of my works are surrealistic and abstract.
Not always easy to explain by rational-verbal means. I like to say that mostly my works have to be seen, not described, because they are expressing something from the deep soul that cannot be clearly defined or explained.
In my growth as an artist I will continue to search for new paths, as I want to explore more of the great possibilities that are given now with digital and net-art.
Biography: Valentino Sani, known in the Mail-art network as Saval, was born in Milan (Italy) 1961, and now live in the Czech republic with his wife and a Golden retriever dog.
During the 80's has started his artistic experience, being part of the International Network of Mail Art. The school, contact, exchange and the deep stimulus received from those artists from all the world (in an era when Internet wasn't yet here) left a seed that with the years fermented and became finally a 'mature' expression of own art.
After stopping doing art for several years (spent playing chess, as did Marcel Duchamp)
returned to collages and painting in year 2000.
Recently he's making more sculpture-assemblage kind of artwork. Especially recyclying everything that is possible, thus approaching Art in a sort of 'ecological' way, as he does in life.
Since 1987 he took part to many collective exhibitions all around the world, in the Mail Art
network. Because of the long absence from the Art field, now he's trying to rebuild a 'career' in art and ready to let explode all the positive energy accumulated, with new creative experiences.
