I have been painting and drawing for a long time. I have worked in oils, pastels,oil pastels, watercolour, charcoal and pencil and for the last few years I have mostly worked with acrylics. My portfolio includes examples of my work in most of these media. I enjoy painting landscapes and am interested in the effects of light on water and the interplay of light and shade. A lot of my paintings are of places that I have visited and are based on photos I have taken or on sketches that I did while there. I have done some portrait work, mostly in pastels or pencil, and would like to do more in the future. I like drawing animals, especially dogs and have done several commissions and would like to do more. For me art is a way of fulfilling a need to create. My favourite artists include Monet, Sisley, Pissaro, Caspar David Friedrich, Marquet, Atkinson Grimshaw, Childe Hassam, Edward Hopper and Ma Yuan.I have recently seen the work of Edward Seago on TV and although I had seen several of his paintings in Norwich castle Museum I hadn't realised what a wonderful artist he was.
