I have come to realize we spend our time commuting from one "place of existance" (home,office,...) to another. Our experience of life is more that of our place of existance rather than that of the "commuting" (non-place of existance). While commuting our brain fails to decode the various amount of visual information that in fact is abundant as the aim of commuting is moving from one place to another. Fact is that there is the world going by and we miss out... Normally looking down we walk from home to tube to bus to train to office to pub to anywhere and back but we "barely see where we are", we fail in being present (read "the power of now"). With this particular project I decided to turn the most routine action in artistic ACTION. "Tendria muchas cosas que decirte a ti y a nuestro pueblo, pero siento que son innecesarias, las palabras no pueden expresar lo que yo quisiera, y no vale la pena emborronar cuartillas."
Biography: Born Italy 1963
Lived in London since 1997
TP is self-taught, completely unknown to the wide public, and have very rarely if ever exposed his works: in the late seventies he produced a 10-seconds super 8 mm grafiti movie and a set of large photographs that were shown in a local club in Genova, Italy. To date that remains his only public appearance. Instead of joining the art scene he preferred to avoid it while continuing to develop his work autonomously and self-financed "no matter what".
Over the years he experienced with different materials and techniques. Lately concentrated on acrylics on canvas and photography. He was fascinated by the possibilities offered by cheap digital toy cameras and, under the pseudonym of Tom Masik, started the ongoing project "street perception" by publishing his photographs on the internet in critique sites such as Photosig and Fotolog. He is presently working on an installation which will include photographs, video and digital recordings.
