I LOVE MY ROOTS... 90% of the time before I work on a digital piece, I first work it out on paper. I do this because I feel more in control and understanding of the piece; and I believe less time is wasted, by making a quick sketch or outline of what I expect, I spend less time thinking about it over the mouse and the computer screen. I also believe, and there is proof of it all around us, that these days anyone can be a graphic designer, photographer, “artist”, web designer, or animator; if they have the tools and the knowledge of those tools, their work can be easily manipulated; such as lighting, contrast, perspective, etc.
It’s similar to having spell check; u dont hav to kno how to spel spicific wurds, bcause spel chek wil tak caire of any mispeld wurds. So in a sense, some upcoming graphic designers, photographers, “artists”, web designers, or animators don’t even care to know the basics of art and design, they allow technology to do it for them. I think in order to be successful in a digital world you must start with an analog approach; “B cr8ive”, only allow technology to enhance your creativity.
I want people to see my work; If you see something you like or don't like, feel free to comment on it or ask questions. Check out my links and my Bio if you want to learn more about me and some of my networks.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by and check out my work.

Biography: Victor Rios was born on January 12, 1980, in Boston, MA; his birth name was Victor G. Piasta. He moved to Portland, ME at the age of one and is still a current resident.
Victor attended public schools in the Portland area and was a 1998 Graduate of Deering High School. Before graduating he changed his last name to his biological father’s last name and today is addressed as Victor G. Rios.
Victor has worked since the age of fourteen. His first job was at a local Market where he continued to work until he graduated high school. He enjoys swimming, basketball, traveling, music, video games, movies, being creative, socializing with friends and family, fishing, and occasionally reading and writing. Besides work and play, Victor has always had a passion for art... ever since he could pick up a pencil and it is a talent that has run in both sides of the family.
In July of 1999 Victor began to work for a local Hotel as a laundry attendant in Housekeeping, and through the years of his employment his hard work was recognized by receiving an Employee of the Month award, an Employee of the Year award, and several promotions that eventually led him to the position of Executive Manager of Housekeeping. Life was good, but something was missing.
Since Victor purchased a Dell computer in 2000 he has been learning and improving his computer skills in graphic design. He has designed many projects for individuals and small businesses ranging from business cards to T-shirt designs; and his love for music created ties with local Hip Hop artists, which in turn led to projects to help promote local events. In 2007 he began to manage a local Hip Hop artist, Dray Senior, and since then he has produced album covers and design projects to promote his music and shows in the Portland area.
Although Victor enjoys working with the computer, he still finds the time to go back to the roots of his artistic ability; which ranges from cartoon to realism using pencil, ink, and charcoal. He has produced pieces for individuals and was published in the Portland Press Herald for a cartoon Editorial, regarding the controversy of Whole Foods’ system of selling lobsters. (March 7, 2007)
In 2006 Victor decided to earn a degree and pursue a career in a field that he was more passionate about; and with thoughtful planning, in December 2006, he resigned his position as Executive Manager and was promoted to Human Resources Assistant and Payroll Supervisor.
In February of 2008, Victor had an unexpected turn of events… he was laid off from his position at the hotel. Although this was devastating to him, he was able to turn it in to a positive situation; and with hard work and thoughtful planning he created Expose Design, LLC by the end of February. Since then he has dedicated his time to his education and to Expose Design.
Victor graduated with High Honors in May 2009 with an Associates Degree in Applied Science - Communication and New Media. He made the Dean’s List will attending SMCC from 2007-2009. He also was one out of the two recipients of the Maine Association of Broadcasters scholarship grant to SMCC students for the 2007-2008 academic year. He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and a recipient of scholarships towards his BA.
Soon after he transferred to the University of Southern Maine to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Media Studies. In May of 2011 Victor earned his degree.
Today Victor is a full-time employee of a local screenprinter and continues to be a freelance creative designer to individuals and businesses. He also is involved in local events, ranging from club events to charity events as a planner and/or promoter; manages Dray Senior; and is the operator of Expose Design, LLC.
